Bar Library Lecture Series

THE LEARNED HAND & HARLAN STONE COURTS - On Tuesday, December 2 at 5:00 P.M. in Courtroom 400 of the Clarence Mitchell Courthouse, Mr. Bennett Boskey spoke on his personal memories and refections of some of the most outstanding figures in the history of American jurisprudence including Justice Felix Frankfurter, Judge Learned Hand, Justice Stanley Reed and Chief Justice Harlan Stone. Boskey knew and worked for these men during the 1930s and 1940s, an era of landmark cases such as the Nazi saboteur case Ex parte Quirin. It was an evening of living history at its best. A wine and cheese reception followed in the Main Reading Room of the Library in which those in attendance had the opportunity to talk to Mr. Boskey about his long and distinguished career as well as the jurists that he has known over the years.
